About This Dog for Adoption

Freddie's ideal home

Freddie is a 7 year old Yorkshire Terrier x Chihuahua. He is looking for a home where he can be the only pet and any children are of Secondary School age or older. He would like a secure garden of his own and would enjoy interesting walks ideally away from heavily dog populated areas. He loves being with people and having a cuddle and a fuss so any leaving hours should be built up gradually at a pace he is comfortable with once settled. Please note that you won’t be applying for a specific dog, but you can tell us what type of dog you’re looking for. You can also add up to four favourites to your application to give us an idea of the dogs you like, so we can consider you for similar dogs. Once you’ve submitted your application, we can’t change or update your favourites. Adding a dog to your application is not a reservation but a guide for us to find you a match.

Could you be Freddie's perfect match?

Little Freddie is a sweet boy who adores a fuss and a cuddle. He travels well in the car and would love to accompany his new family on their adventures. He can be unsure around other dogs and can show this by being vocal or growling. He has been able to walk at a short distance away from another dog but is quite avoidant and is not keen on saying hello. In his previous home, he did socialise with some known family dogs so has potential to build up to having some known doggy friends in time. He will need to be kept on lead when being walked in public to avoid him being put in situations with other dogs he is not comfortable with. Freddie can be a little worried initially when meeting new people but if allowed to say hello at his own pace he soon makes friends and once he knows you loves having a cuddle. He has been used to sleeping on his owner's bed and is likely to want to be near you on the sofa for cuddles so would love a family who are happy to have a Freddie sized space on their sofa and in their hearts.

Chihuahua Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Chihuahua.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Chihuahua Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
