About This Dog for Adoption

Sandy's ideal home

Meet 1 year old Sandy! She's an absolute sweetheart who loves being with people and sitting on a lap. She came to us as a stray and was very worried when she initially was handed over, but since being in a foster home she has blossomed into a cheeky little girl with a big personality! Sandy could live with sensible, older primary school aged children but she would like to be the only dog in the home. She would like a garden to enjoy and leaving hours should be introduced over time once settled in.

Could you be Sandy's perfect match?

Sandy is a little ball of love who just wants a cuddle with everyone. She is still learning all of the basics, including how to be friends with other dogs. We believe she hasn't met many dogs in her past as she wants to say hi but then gets worried and will start to bark. She does soon calm down and can walk calmly after a few minutes of getting to know them. With further socialisation with friendly dogs, she has plenty of potential to have dog friends in the future. Sandy will make a brilliant companion for someone who wants an affectionate and sweet little girl.

Chihuahua Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Chihuahua.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Chihuahua Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
