About This Dog for Adoption

Archie's ideal home

Archie is looking for a calm and quiet home with minimal visitors, with adopters who will take him on walks in quiet walking areas, who will play with him and give him all the love and care he deserves. He can be very worried by new people and likes his space so is looking for an adult only home with adopters who will give him space to rest and relax when he needs. Archie could live with an established dog of a similar size who will happily co-exist with him. This will be pending successful meetings at the centre, living with another dog is not a necessity though, he would be happy with calm and polite walking buddies, he cannot live with cats or other small furries. Archie has a little training under his belt, can lose interest in training quite easily, but can be enticed to train for a tasty treat or a toy. He is currently learning to wear a muzzle as he will be going home on a lead and muzzle in public disclaimer. He has been housetrained in the past, but may need a refresher in his new home so access to a private, secure garden is needed. Archie can get a little worried being left alone, he could be left for up to 1-2 hours, this would need to be built up slowly once he has had time to settle into his new home. Archie will need to meet his adopters a few times prior to going home so please bear this in mind when applying. Please note that should you be shortlisted, our rehoming process usually takes up to 7 days, and potential adopters would be required to come up to the centre to meet him within 48hrs of being shortlisted.

Could you be Archie's perfect match?

Sweet little man Archie is an 8 year old Jack Russell/Chihuahua cross who is a little lad with a big personality once he gets to know you. Once he has built a bond with a person he likes a gentle fuss, back and chin scratches are his favourite. He is a playful guy, he loves to chase around teddies, rope toys and balls. He is quite a foodie boy, the smellier the treat the better, he will take them gently from the hand. This little man is looking for his perfect new home.

Chihuahua Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Chihuahua.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Chihuahua Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
