About This Dog for Adoption

Dorothy's ideal home

Say hello to Dorothy, a sweet 2 year old Chihuahua who has come from a rubbish background. She is looking for a home where all children would be 14yrs+ due to her worried nature. She could live with another calm dog, pending a successful meet here in the centre. Dorthy is a sweet girl that will need help building up her confidence in a few different areas. She is used to living with other dogs, so we feel she would benefit from a confident dog to show her the ropes in her new home. Dorothy, however, is not a fan of sharing and so meal-times would need to be managed appropriately.

Could you be Dorothy's perfect match?

Dorothy will need a bit of time to come around in her new home, as she has lived a sheltered one up until this point. She is a very cuddly girl when she is comfortable with you, and enjoys a fuss. She is still quite worried and avoidant with new people, and so she needs potential adopters that are willing to go at her pace and ensure she doesn't get too overwhelmed. Dorothy's ideal home would be quite quiet, with understanding owners that are caring and patient, whereby she can build her confidence and become the best girl she can be!

Chihuahua Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Chihuahua.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Chihuahua Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
