About This Dog for Adoption

Ivy's ideal home

Little Ivy is around 5 years old and hasn't had the most positive experience with handling due to being in pain for quite some time before arriving with us. Fortunately, she is now on long term pain relief and the hope is that she can overcome the negative associations with being touched. Ivy has built fantastic bonds with her Canine Carers, and this is because they have been gentle with her, and have listened to her body language when she feels uncomfortable. As long as her adopter does this too, she should form the same loving bond. Ivy will need a quiet, patient home where she gets short walks or even a garden to potter about in as she pleases! She is much more of a couch potato than an athlete! Ivy will need to be the only dog in her forever home, but she can have dog walking buddies that match her energy levels. There is potential that she could live with other pets in the home, such as cats, as long as they give her space. Ivy is looking for an adult only home with no visiting children as she finds the noise and activity stressful.

Could you be Ivy's perfect match?

Ivy can be very misunderstood, but her Canine Carers say that she is an incredibly sweet and funny little lady once she feels she can trust you. Her adopter will need to be introduced to Ivy and her boundaries slowly, so multiple meets at the Rehoming Centre will be expected. Taking the time to get to know Ivy will be 100% worth it as the result will be the most rewarding, loyal companion. If you think you could give Ivy her second chance at a forever home, then please submit an adoption application and include her as a 'Favourite' dog. Thank you!

Chihuahua Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Chihuahua.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Chihuahua Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
