About This Dog for Adoption

Misty's ideal home

Misty is a four-year-old pretty Chihuahua cross Pug LOOKING TO BE REHOMED TOGETHER WITH BEAR. Misty and Bear would benefit from having social doggy pals when out and about. They have good history of living with a cat and could possibly live with a dog savvy cat in their new home. They have no history with small furries or livestock. Misty and Bear have good history with children and could share a home with children as young as eight-years-old. They are housetrained. They have been happy to be left alone in the home for a few hours at a time. They could cope with a reasonably busy household.
This dog is currently being rehomed under our Home Stay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when the ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Home Stay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with the owners to minimise the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative dog.

Could you be Misty's perfect match?

Misty is the more confident one of the pair. She is a big fan of her food and treats. She knows a few tricks including a ‘sit, ‘down’, and ‘stay’. She doesn’t often play with toys but will carry around a soft toy from time to time. Misty and Bear enjoy going for walkies and do not mind waking with other social dogs. Misty is affectionate and adores a fuss and she gives kisses. She may bark at new people initially but comes around quickly once she knows that they are friendly humans.

Chihuahua Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Chihuahua.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Chihuahua Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
