About This Dog for Adoption
Pickles's ideal home
Pickles is a bright, enthusiastic boy who is looking for a moderate‑to‑active home where he can enjoy regular exercise, engaging enrichment, and a consistent routine. He thrives when he knows where his cosy resting spots are and benefits from clear guidance around high‑value items. A calmer, well‑organised home environment will help him feel relaxed and at his best.
He will need a home with a private garden, giving him space to explore, play, and unwind.
Pickles has shown that he can guard his bed and certain close spaces, so he’s seeking a home with secondary‑school‑aged children or older—children who can confidently read his body language and give him the space he needs when he’s resting.
He does have some medical needs that may come with additional costs, and we’ll be more than happy to discuss these openly if your application is shortlisted.
Pickles really enjoys meeting other dogs on walks and often greets them with loose, friendly body language. However, because he may guard high‑value items, he would be happiest as the only dog in the home.
Overall, Pickles is a lovely, lively companion who will truly thrive in the right environment—one that understands his needs, offers structure, and celebrates all the wonderful qualities he brings.
Could you be Pickles's perfect match?
Pickles is a charming one‑year‑old Chihuahua bursting with confidence, friendliness, and enthusiasm. He absolutely thrives on human interaction and loves being part of whatever you’re doing. With his loose, wiggly body and constantly wagging tail, he greets new people with joy and excitement.
Pickles adores his walks, happily sniffing and exploring the world around him. He has a playful, cheeky side too—fetch, tug, and bringing toys over to start a game are some of his favourite activities. He’s also wonderfully affectionate and often chooses to curl up on your lap for fuss and cuddles.
When he first arrived in foster, Pickles did a little initial scent‑marking in the living room, but since then, he has been very good about using the garden for toileting, showing how quickly he settles into routine.
He hasn’t been left alone for daytime periods yet in foster, but he does brilliantly overnight. He sleeps downstairs, usually settling after just 30 seconds to a minute of soft crying, and then snoozes peacefully until morning. For this reason, his new home should be ready to build up leaving hours gradually, ideally with adopters who have some flexibility at first.
Pickles has also made great progress with car travel. Although he was hesitant initially, he now hops in and out of the back seat confidently. During journeys, he sits happily looking out of the window and travels very well.
