About This Dog for Adoption
Cash's ideal home
Cash is searching for his forever home with his beloved best friend, Penny. These two share a wonderful bond and are looking for a family who can welcome them both with open arms.
Cash is a gentle, sensitive soul who truly flourishes in a calm, peaceful household with steady, predictable routines. A quieter environment helps him feel secure, and he will thrive in a home where life moves at a relaxed pace.
A private garden will give Cash and Penny a safe, comfortable space to enjoy together.
Cash would be happiest in an adult-only home or one with calm, dog‑savvy older teenagers who understand canine body language and can give him the space he needs. With people who respect his boundaries, Cash builds trust beautifully and forms deep, lasting bonds.
He will benefit from living with patient, understanding owners who can recognise when he needs a little breathing room, especially during handling. With gentle guidance and support, Cash can continue to grow in confidence. Because he can be unsure around unfamiliar visitors, a home willing to follow simple visitor‑management advice will help him feel safe and settled.
Most importantly, Cash must stay with Penny—they are deeply bonded and have even raised puppies together. Their companionship brings out the best in each other, and they’re looking forward to starting their next chapter side by side.
Could you be Cash's perfect match?
Cash is a charming five‑year‑old Jack Russell Terrier, Chihuahua cross who is currently staying with us through our Homestay Scheme. He and his best friend, Penny, are looking for a new home together due to their owners’ poor health.
Cash is a sweet, sensitive boy who forms wonderfully strong bonds once he feels secure. While he may initially be a little unsure around new people—particularly men—and can be cautious with handling, he shows his affectionate nature beautifully once trust has been established. With those he knows, Cash is loving, gentle, and enjoys fuss and even bum scratches. Having Penny by his side gives him an extra boost of confidence, and their companionship is something truly special.
Cash has not had much experience being left alone in his previous home. In the centre, he has managed short periods independently, so adopters should begin with very minimal time left and build this up gradually with guidance and support.
Although his previous owner noted he could be vocal in the car, Cash travelled quietly during his assessment when secured with a harness. This may have been due to feeling unsure, so gentle, positive car‑training will help him grow more confident with journeys over time.
Overall, Cash is a loving, loyal little dog who just needs patience, reassurance, and a peaceful environment to truly shine—especially with his best friend Penny beside him.
