About This Dog

Frankie's ideal home

Frankie is a 9-year-old male Chihuahua who is looking for a calm and understanding home where he can feel safe and settled. He can be a little worried when meeting new people and may bark or growl at first, so he’ll need adopters who are happy to give him space and allow him to approach in his own time. Once he’s comfortable, Frankie shows his friendly side and enjoys being around his people.
Frankie is an older boy, so he would suit a home that can offer him a relaxed lifestyle with gentle routines. He could live with children who are a bit older and confident, as he has lived around young children before, but his sensitivity means he would benefit from a quieter home environment. He is best suited to being the only dog in the home, although he tends to ignore other dogs when out and about. He could potentially live with cats, as he has previously met them and shown little interest.
Frankie was brought to us because he was being left alone for extended periods (around 6–9 hours), which he struggled to cope with. He can find being left difficult and may vocalise when alone, so he would benefit from a home where he isn’t left for long durations. He is housetrained, although he has been known to have accidents if left for extended periods.

Could you be Frankie's perfect match?

Frankie is a playful little dog who loves his toys (especially his favourite Santa toy) and enjoys a good game with his humans. He also has a soft spot for tasty treats (mashed potato being a clear favourite)! He walks nicely on the lead and enjoys getting out for his daily walks, taking in the world at his own pace.
He can be a bit of a “humpy boy,” particularly when meeting new people, and may also be sensitive to certain high-pitched noises like vacuum cleaners or hairdryers. Frankie can guard his food slightly, so this is something his new family will need to be mindful of and continue to manage appropriately.
With visitors, Frankie may initially bark or growl, but with space and patience he settles and can become affectionate, even seeking out a cuddle once he feels comfortable. He travels well in the car in a carrier and has been good when handled, including being picked up.
Frankie is looking for a patient and understanding home that will give him time to adjust and build his confidence. In return, he’ll offer lots of personality, playful moments, and loyal companionship to the people he trusts.
