About This Dog for Adoption

Slinky's ideal home

Slinky is ready to find a home with her pal Chester. They have always lived together and rely on each other. They are bonded and do everything together. Slinky is a sweet little Dachshund x Chihuahua. Chester is Terrier and he is the more confident of the two. They love to lounge around in the garden and Chester has been known to play ball on the odd occasion.
Chester is 11 years old and Slinky is 8 years old.
Chester is showing some signs of Arthritis in his back leg joints, he is currently on anti inflammatory medication. Chester also has the beginning of old age showing and has some visual impariness, Slinky acts as his guide. They both enjoy a quieter life, pottering around in the garden and going on gentle walks. They have so much love to give and would love a retirement home together. A truly bonded pair who we are looking to rehome together only.

Slinky is a little more apprehensive when first meeting, given time she does warm to you and come out of her shell. She takes her treats gently. Chester will take treats and is really friendly. Slinky will need a little time to settle with her new family and take things at her own pace. She isn't the type of dog to be hyped up and super excited when meeting you for the first time, she is unsure of her surroundings here, however at home with her Pawrents she is relaxed, friendly and will bond with time in her new home. She is adorable and has begun to show her personality at little more each time she visits. We welcome applications from Cumbria as both dogs will require dental work (which Dogs Trust will cover the costs of using our veterinary practice near Penrith) So applications would need to be aware that both dogs will have dental surgery and the adopters will be responsible for taking to and collecting from the vets for this procedure. Slinky and Chester are staying in their home with their Pawrent until adoption day - they are for rehoming due to a change in circumstances and through no fault of their own.

Chihuahua Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Chihuahua.

View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Chihuahua Owners website
Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images
