About This Dog for Adoption

Cassie's ideal home

Cassie is a little soul with a big personality, and she is searching for a special someone to offer her the quiet life she deserves — along with her best pal, Baby.
At 10 years old, this feisty Chihuahua might be small in size, but she certainly knows her own mind. Cassie thrives in peaceful, predictable environments and would love a calm adult-only home where she can settle at her own pace. She must be rehomed with her lifelong companion Baby and cannot share her space with other dogs, although she could live with a dog-savvy cat.

Cassie will need quiet walking routes and a secure, enclosed garden to explore with Baby. She finds dog encounters stressful and will need to stay on lead at all times in public. She must also be muzzled for vet visits and any formal handling. Her new home will need to use a porch or baby gates to prevent her from greeting visitors at the front door.

Could you be Cassie's perfect match?

Cassie is looking for a patient and experienced home, where she will be given the space, time, and understanding she needs to grow in confidence. She has made great progress in building relationships with more staff during her stay, and with her known handlers, she enjoys gentle fuss and has even been known to fall asleep on a lap!

Although she does not show interest in toys, Cassie loves spending time in the garden with Baby and tucking into meaty treats. She takes treats gently and is used to being groomed, though if she senses something she is unsure about she will retreat to her bed for reassurance.

In the future, it is likely that Cassie will require ongoing medication - something the team will discuss in more detail during the reservation process.

Cassie is not yet housetrained but is improving, particularly when kept in a consistent routine. She uses pads when left alone for longer periods but is beginning to head to the door when she needs to go outside.

If you can offer a quiet, understanding, and structured home for both Cassie and Baby, you will be rewarded with the companionship of two lovely girls who just want to feel safe and loved.

Chihuahua Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Chihuahua.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Chihuahua Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
