Kurt
About This Dog
Kurt's ideal home
Kurt is a lively and affectionate little Chihuahua with a big personality and an even bigger love for people. He’s a confident, friendly boy who thrives on attention, fuss, and plenty of tasty treats. Kurt absolutely adores human company and will happily snuggle up on your lap (even if he’s a little wriggly at times) and shower you with enthusiastic greetings. He’s a curious chap who enjoys exploring his surroundings and keeping busy, and his love of food makes him a great candidate for positive training.
Kurt can live with children, but due to his excitable nature he would be best suited to slightly older, dog-savvy kids who can give him space when needed. While he has lived around cats before, Kurt would need to be the only dog in the home. He can become jealous when other dogs get attention, and when meeting unfamiliar dogs he can feel worried and reactive, showing behaviours like barking and lunging. For this reason, he’ll need owners who understand his need for space and can help him build confidence at his own pace.
Kurt enjoys his walks but would benefit from quieter routes where he can feel safe and not overwhelmed. He’ll need some work on lead manners and getting comfortable in a harness, as he can be a little unsure at first. He’s an energetic little dog who will really benefit from a good balance of exercise and mental enrichment to keep him happy and settled.
Could you be Kurt's perfect match?
Kurt is looking for a patient and committed home that can help him with the basics and build his confidence. He isn’t fully house trained and may mark indoors, so he’ll need support and consistency with his toilet training. He’s also not used to being left alone, so his new family should be around most of the time initially and be willing to gradually build up his independence.
Kurt will need ongoing training and gentle socialisation, especially around handling and situations like vet visits. He can become overwhelmed if pushed too quickly, so a calm, understanding approach using positive reinforcement will be key to helping him thrive. Previous experience with reactive or sensitive dogs would be a big advantage.
Overall, Kurt is a loving, people-focused little dog who just wants to be someone’s companion. With the right guidance, patience, and structure, he has so much potential to flourish. He’s looking for a home where he can be the centre of attention, feel safe and understood, and enjoy all the love he has to give.
